About this product
The strip a magnetic screen holds on to.
Self-adhesive magnetic strip sold by the metre. It is what a magnetic window screen attaches to, and it is what you replace when the adhesive has been on a frame for a few seasons.
Clean the frame before you stick it down and let the adhesive cure before hanging a screen on it.
Still deciding?
You can change your mind. Under the Consumer Rights Directive (2011/83/EU) you have 14 days from delivery to cancel for any reason, and a further 14 days to send it back in resaleable condition. We refund the price you paid, including standard delivery.
If it turns up faulty, damaged or not as described, that is on us. The EU sale of goods rules (Directive (EU) 2019/771) covers you, we pay the return postage, and you can have a repair, a replacement or your money back. Read the full detail on our refunds and returns page, or ask us anything before you order.
Got questions?
You get both halves. One length is the strip that fixes to your window frame and the other is the self-adhesive magnetic strip that the screen closes against. They are supplied together for every metre you order.
By the metre. Order the run you actually need rather than a fixed pack, so a small kitchen window and a wide patio window are both covered without waste.
Measure all four sides of the opening and add them together. A 1 metre by 1 metre window needs about 4 metres. It is worth adding a little extra for the corners and for any mistake in cutting.
No. The strip is self-adhesive, so it goes straight onto a clean frame. A tape measure and a pair of scissors are enough.
Clean it and let it dry completely. Adhesive fails on dust, grease and damp far more often than it fails on its own, so the two minutes spent wiping the frame down is the part that decides how long the strip lasts.
Give the adhesive its full cure time first. Hanging weight on a bond that has not set is the most common reason a strip lifts at one corner a week later.
Because the adhesive usually gives up before the magnet does. If the mesh is still sound and the strip has started lifting, a fresh run of strip restores the screen for a fraction of the cost of replacing it.
Yes, and that is one of the main reasons people buy it. Cut the large screen down to the openings you have and use fresh strip to edge each new piece.
The colour is not published for this line. If the finish matters on your frame, email theteam@insectscreensbelgium.com before you order and we will confirm what is in stock rather than guess.
We do not publish a width for this product. Ask us before ordering if you are matching an existing screen and we will check the current stock for you.
No pull figure is published for this line, so we will not quote one. In practice it is specified to hold a window screen closed rather than a door, and if you are planning something unusual it is worth asking first.
Self-adhesive strip is designed to stick to a smooth, clean, dry surface, which uPVC normally is. Textured, flaking or freshly painted surfaces are the ones that cause trouble.
It is an adhesive product, so it is meant to stay where you put it. Removing it later can leave residue on some finishes. If you rent, test a short piece somewhere out of sight before running it round the whole frame.
Lift a corner and pull it back slowly along the frame rather than straight out. Warming it gently first makes old adhesive let go more cleanly.
The magnet is fine but the adhesive is not. Once a run has been peeled off it will not bond properly again, which is exactly why the strip is sold by the metre.
Yes. Cut it with scissors to the length of each side. Cutting slightly long and trimming at the corner is easier than joining two short pieces.
The strip will follow a gentle curve, but a tight arch is difficult to edge neatly and the seal is only as good as the contact along it. Send us a photograph if you are unsure.
It is intended for a window frame, which normally means a sheltered face. Adhesive on a surface that is soaked and baked in turn will not last as well as adhesive indoors.
Adhesive bonds best at room temperature. Fitting on a cold day is the usual reason a new run lifts, so if you can, fit it when the frame is warm and dry.
It is ordinary magnetic strip, so it will work with most magnetic window screens. What matters is that both halves meet cleanly along their whole length.
We do not publish a service life and it depends heavily on the frame, the weather and how the screen is used. The adhesive is the part that ages, which is why it is stocked as a replacement item.
No. Those belong to the PVC frame system. Magnetic strip is used on its own to mount a magnetic screen directly to the window frame.
EUR 7 per metre. Delivery is free on orders over EUR 60 and EUR 22 below that.
Allow 5 to 7 days once the order has been handled, and handling takes 24 to 48 hours.
The strip is sold in whole metres. Order the next metre up and cut the remainder to suit, which is usually cheaper than being a few centimetres short.
No minimum. One metre is a perfectly normal order, though delivery is free once the basket reaches EUR 60.
This line is specified for window screens. A door screen takes far more handling, so we would point you at the magnetic door range rather than build one from strip.
It runs around the edge of the frame rather than across the glass, so it is visible up close but does not sit in the line of sight through the window.
Get in touch at theteam@insectscreensbelgium.com and tell us what the frame is made of and what the weather was like when you fitted it. Nine times out of ten the answer is surface preparation rather than the strip.
We would not recommend it. Paint on the magnetic face stops the two halves meeting cleanly, which is the whole point of the strip.
