Magnetic window screens, velcro screens, cat-proof mesh and screen doorsFree delivery on orders over €60Fitted without tools, no drilling and no tradesman14 days to change your mind on every stock size

Why a screen has to close itself

Most door screens fail the same way. They work perfectly when you have a free hand, and the rest of the time they get propped open with a foot, a bag or a knee, and the flies walk in behind you.

That is the whole reason we sell magnetic screens. Magnets run down the centre seam, so you walk at it, it opens, and it pulls itself shut again while your hands are still full. Nothing to slide, nothing to swing, and nothing to remember.

And why a window screen has to come off

Windows have the opposite problem. A screen that is screwed on stays on, so it is still there in October collecting dust, and the one time you want to clean the glass you need a screwdriver.

Ours press on instead. The magnetic window screen sits on a slim self-adhesive strip you stick round the frame, so it lifts away in one piece and presses back. The velcro version uses hook tape and its mesh trims down to the opening you actually have, which suits a window that stays open all summer. And where a cat uses the window, there is a heavier weave that stands up to claws.

Stock sizes, fitted without tools

Nothing here needs drilling and nothing needs a tradesman. Door screens fit inside the door frame rather than to the wall, and window screens go on with self-adhesive magnetic or hook tape. Ten minutes and a tape measure is the whole job, and it all comes back down at the end of summer without marking the frame, which matters if you rent.

Sizes are standard rather than made to measure. Doors run to ten widths from 60cm to 180cm, in 210cm or 240cm heights, in black, brown or white. Window screens come in five sizes from 100x100cm up to 200x200cm. Measure your opening, pick the size that covers it, and it ships from stock.

Being straight about what it is

A mesh screen is not a security door and it is not an insect-proof seal. It stops what walks and flies into an open doorway or window, which is what most people actually want in summer. If you need a doorway you walk through all day, a chain or string curtain door is usually the better answer than mesh, and we sell those too. The cat mesh is a tougher weave, not a barrier that will hold an animal in.

We would rather say that up front than take the order and hear about it later. Where we do not have a figure, such as the mesh grade, we say so on the page instead of guessing.

How we work

We are an online shop with no physical premises, which is how the prices stay where they are. You order on this site, pay by card through Stripe or by PayPal, and we ship right across Europe. Delivery is free on orders of €60 or more, and a flat €22 under that, arriving 5-7 days after a 24-48 hour handling time.

Not sure which size covers your frame, whether a magnetic or a velcro screen suits your window, or whether a mesh door or a curtain door suits the doorway? Email us before you order at theteam@insectscreensbelgium.com and a real person will help, usually within one working day.

We run country stores in several markets selling the same range. If you are outside Europe, start at our company hub, magneticscreens.company.

What we sell

Magnetic window screens

Five sizes from 100x100 to 200x200 cm, in black, brown or white, with standard or midge mesh. It presses onto a self-adhesive strip and lifts off in one piece to clean the glass.

Velcro window screens

Hook tape round the frame and mesh you trim down to the opening, so the fit does not have to be exact. Standard, midge or pet mesh, in black or white.

Cat-proof window mesh

A heavier weave for a window your cat sits in and pushes against. Same five sizes, black or white edge, and the window still ventilates.

Magnetic screen doors

Stock sizes from 60 to 180 cm wide, in 210 or 240 cm heights, black, brown or white. Magnets down the centre close it behind you.

Chain and string curtain doors

Aluminium chain in black or silver for a doorway that is walked through all day, and a lighter string curtain in black or white where a chain door would be more than the doorway needs.

Swats and spares

A leather fly swat and a rechargeable mosquito racket for the ones that get in anyway, plus replacement mesh, PVC frame lengths, corner piece sets and magnetic strip by the metre.

Frequently asked questions

Who is behind this shop?

The shop is run by Magnetic Screens Company, a division of Caruso Consulting Co Ltd. The full company details, including the registration number and both addresses, are on this page and on the contact page.

Do you have a shop I can visit?

No. We sell online only and have no physical premises, which is a large part of why the prices sit where they do. Everything ships from stock.

Do you make screens to my measurements?

No. Every item is a stock size. You measure your opening, pick the size that covers it, and it ships from the shelf.

Do you install the screens?

No, and you should not need anyone to. Door screens fit inside the door frame and window screens go on with self-adhesive tape, so it is about ten minutes with a tape measure.

What sizes do the window screens come in?

Five, from 100x100cm up to 200x200cm: 100x100, 100x150, 150x150, 150x200 and 200x200.

What sizes do the screen doors come in?

Ten widths from 60cm to 180cm, in 210cm or 240cm heights. The narrower widths are made in the 210cm height only, so the sizes offered on the product page are the sizes that exist.

What colours can I have?

Screen doors and magnetic window screens come in black, brown or white. The velcro window screens and the cat mesh come in black or white, and the chain curtain door is black or silver.

Magnetic or velcro window screen, which should I pick?

Take the magnetic one if you want to lift the screen off in one piece to clean the glass. Take the velcro one if the window stays open all summer and you would rather trim the mesh down to the opening you actually have.

What is midge mesh?

A tighter weave than standard mesh, for the smaller insects that walk through an ordinary fly screen. Standard mesh is the one for flies and wasps.

What is the cat mesh?

A heavier weave for a window an animal sits in and pushes against, so it stands up to claws better than standard fly mesh. It is not a barrier that will hold an animal in.

Do I need to drill anything?

No. Door screens fit inside the frame, and window screens sit on a self-adhesive magnetic or hook strip. No drilling, no wall fixings and no tradesman.

Will it mark the frame, and can I use one in a rented flat?

It comes back down at the end of summer without marking the frame, which is exactly why a lot of the people who buy them are renting.

Can I take a window screen off to clean the glass?

The magnetic one lifts away in one piece and presses back on. The velcro one is meant to stay up through the season and pulls off when you want the glass clear.

Can the mesh be cut down to my opening?

The velcro window screen is designed for it. The magnetic window screens and the screen doors are not: they are stock sizes and there is no frame to cut.

Chain curtain or string curtain for a door?

The chain curtain is aluminium and suits a doorway that is walked through all day. The string curtain is lighter and quieter, for a doorway where a chain door would be more than it needs.

Is a mesh screen a security screen?

No. It is not a security door and it is not an insect-proof seal. It stops what walks and flies into an open doorway or window, which is what most people want in summer.

Where do you ship?

Right across Europe.

What does delivery cost and how long does it take?

Delivery is free above the order value shown on the shipping page and a flat fee below it. That page carries the current rate and the handling and transit times.

Can I change my mind after it arrives?

Yes. Everything is a stock size and nothing is made to your measurement, so the full 14 day change of mind right applies to the whole range. The refunds and returns page has the detail.

What if it turns up damaged?

Tell us and we will put it right. Email is the fastest route and there is a person on the other end, normally back to you within one working day.

How can I pay?

By credit or debit card through Stripe, or with PayPal.

What currency are the prices in?

Euros.

Do you sell replacement mesh on its own?

Yes. Fibreglass mesh by itself in standard, midge and pet weaves, in three sizes, for a frame that is still good but a screen that has been caught.

Can I buy the magnetic strip separately?

Yes, by the metre. It is the same strip a magnetic window screen holds on to.

Do you sell spare frame parts?

Yes. PVC frame lengths by the metre in black, brown or white, and corner piece sets.

Do you sell anything for the ones that get in anyway?

A leather fly swat with a sprung handle that outlasts the plastic ones, and a rechargeable electric mosquito racket that charges over USB.

Do you supply trade or bulk orders?

Yes. The wholesale page takes a few details about your business and the quantities you have in mind, and our trade team comes back with pricing and lead times.

Can I phone you?

There is a number on the contact page. Email is usually faster and it is the route we answer first, normally within one working day.

What languages is the site in?

English, French and Dutch. The same pages and the same range exist in all three.

Are you connected to other screen shops?

Yes. We run country stores in several markets selling the same range. If you are outside Europe, start at our company hub at magneticscreens.company.
